Afrika Korps Bengahzi

The German Afrika Korps, under Erwin Rommel, played a significant role in the North African campaign during World War II, particularly in the battles around Benghazi. Benghazi changed hands several times between Axis and Allied forces. The Afrika Korps, initially sent as a "blocking force", captured Benghazi on April 4, 1941, after the British had taken it earlier that year. The city was later retaken by the British, then captured again by the Afrika Korps before finally being liberated by the Allies.
